All of creation suffers, young ones. Only in accepting our own mortality can we make a difference. Only in bearing the burden of our failures can we find the strength to go on. Only in detachment from glory, or honour, or jealousy... from life itself can we hope to spare others from grief.
We are Doom Eagles. And we are dead already.
I somewhat enjoy this anime but overall I must say - it was a boring. Basically we follow Seras Victoria a human turn into a Vampire by a elusive secretive vampire called Alucard (Dracula). Most episodes have connections between them and have a continuity feeling and so I wouldn't advice to watch separately for full (or not) enjoyment. As I said most of the episodes we follow either Seras Victoria or the Lady Sir Integra but at the same time it's a show about the villains. Alucard, supposedly the main character only appears at particular moments of the episode - only to find myself aghast with the weak character he is. He is so secretive so aloof througought the series that besides episode 9 (we never really know anything about him and even in that episode we don't get that much information). He is immortal being with no apparent flaws at all since he cannot die - in two episodes he even return from decapitation and total desintigration (only his head remained. Oh and he wins everytime. A lot of psychadelic effects a some unsanwered questions. In the end it was in my humble opinion a time wasting anime to watch. Should have watch Hellsing Ultimate which focus more on the manga while this one only half the episodes do. The last four eps with the new evil arriving is totally created and not based on the manga. In the end can I advice it you to watch it? No. If you want to watch a vampire focus ainme then go Vampire Hunter D.
First of all not to confuse with another Zapped TV Series for children. I am going to review Zapped a British fantasy comedy TV Series with two seasons under her belt. The First season was only 3 episodes and the second season with 6 episodes. First of all the feeling I have watching this series is a the same as reading a Terry Pratchett novel with a hint of Harry Potter (subtle but's it's there)
Each episode you will have the smile in your face from the beginning to the end. Some episodes are truly comic. Its that British comedy that UK cannot do it. It's not ROTFLOL but LOL... you understand this? We follow Brian Weaver a temp that it's transported to another world where he meets and befriends a soothsayer (with hardly any knowledge of divinity) a dunked wizard and a half-giant half-dwarf (How did they made love??) plus a ex-warrior turned bartender that is always saying "it reminds me that time..." but no-one lets him talk. AsI said it's a comedy that puts silly situations and make you not laugh but smile and tilt your head.
Each episode we follow Brian as he tries to get home but every time something happens. With each episode 25 minute mark it might feel short BUT it feels a lot more because there are a lot more going on and a lot of situations happen in such short time. Should I recommend it to you?
Well if you like Britcom then you will enjoy this one without any doubt. If you enjoy Terry Pratchett or Fantasy with a hint of comedy then go ahead. After all with 25 minutes watch the first episode and decide yourself. It's not the best series BUT it's good 7/10.
Future Man is a series released by Hulu and what a great series it was. Hulu is a subscription service like netflix although with far less money. They have released a lot of interesting stories. The Path, Chance (on my ToWatchList), Dimension 404 (Also on my ToWatchList, Marvel's Runaways (Also on TWL) and of course the master series The Handmaid's Tale. As they release more series there are more money so... Some are on my radar Castle Rock (Stephen King Anthology sort of ); Dawn and The Warriors (a new tale of the movie The Warriors from 1979 which I adored). Well back to the Future Man. In this series we follow Josh Futturman as he "waste" his life away in his parent's house (Gabe and Diane) and work as a janitor while playing a video game called Bionic Wars that nobody finished. When he finish the game two humans appears (Tiger (woman) and Wolf (man)) that say that he is the Savior of the future. Supposedly the game was made to discover a person who could help us change the future - unfortunally nothing is what it seems. From this moment on it's time travel to time travel to kill Doctor Elias Kronish 'cause he is the destroyer of humanity.
Every single episode is filled with laughing situations, sexual innuendo and action scenes Each episode is unique - one focus on James Cameron (after all he is a visionary); or we follow Corey Hart (A singer); Some they twist the rules of time travelling making one instance where Josh almost impregnates his mother Diane. Tiger and Wolf when they arrive at the past are pure caveman that are born to fight and as the series progress they change. There are a couple of episodes solely focus on them as there are some focus on Josh. In terms of character development this series is a a must to anyone.
In terms of comedy I have to say that most of time I had a smile on my face (episode 9 is one of the most insane/funny episodes ever) I sincerely would advice this series to anyone who loves Sci-Fi and Comedy with a action inbetween. Great characters and some closure on the overall series. Basically they can make a season 2 but if this ends like this it's also a very nice ending. A bunch of odds to other series and movies plus books, video-games and memes. 8/10
October Horror Fest has come and go and it was good month. Not only did I made the 31 movies but I even surpassed it and even saw some TV Series in the Horror genre (still no reviews) I am still trying to finish 1922 and Sadako vs Kayako
Dead Set is a UK TV Series that doesn't try to emulate Walking Dead or Z Nation which is nice change. Basically we follow a group of people trapped within a house that is host to somekind of Big Brother or such. A Zombie apocalypse is unleashed and they are totally oblivion to it. From the second episode we follow two groups of people trying to escape, ones trying to get in and others trying to get out. It's quite interesting the way the characters interact and react to one another. There are a lot tension and each character is flesh out BUT each one is different as the other. We've got the girl with big tits and only want to be famous, you've got the gay man who basically is a woman, the jockey, the black dude and /or the old pervert man. Plus we've got the indian guy who is trying to get to his girlfriend who works in the station (but she cheats on him) and we also have the producer who is a Gordon Ramsey 5.0 in terms of language and way he treat persons...
Well predictable (at least the faith of some of them) but the ending was a bit unexpected BUT hardly unrealistic. Zombies are hard to beat BUT running zombies? very hard indeed... With only 5 episodes running 150m I consider it a big movie and although they could have done a bit better BUT nevertheless a nice addition to the zombie mythos. As I said - it could have be made into 10 episodes dwelling more on the survival and relations between characters BUT this is also fine Some nudity (The big titty girl) and only 2 or 3 seconds in a mirror. The violence is there with the killing and munching and biting. Awesome stuff.
The movie is also a criticism of "Zombies" in terms of people watching and "devouring" every single program like Big Brother. In 2008 when the hype was up there with half a dozen shows in the same kind. Well nevertheless a good show TV Series with a proper ending. Fun Spoiler Facts - Female Main Protagonist - Some Nudity (5 or so seconds all combined) - Not Happy Ending
I watched this one and now I hope I've didn't but life is that way... It's good rating BUT I don't understand why. It's crappy movie with some horror elements. It's more terror than horror and we follow a nurse taking care of a elderly woman - we hope something happens in the most boring 80 minutes of my life but nothing really do. The ending was rushed and strange... I've lost 90m of my life... I WANT THEM BACK!
Fun Spoiler Facts
- Female protagonist
- No Nudity
- It ended - who the fvck cares... but if you really really ask me, well it's a happy ending - she dies and it's a ghost!
Ahh Ringu the movie that start it all... Having read the book I watched the movie hoping that it follow the book... the american version did not.
Well, we start by following two BFF talking about a tape one of them saw and at one point one them dies (horribly).
Her aunt is a journalist and starts investigating what had happened and begins to learn more about other people dying with the same thing. After some time investigating she learns the whereabouts of the tape and watches the movie. Afterwards she returns home with the tape and asks the help to her son's father (Ex husband). She copies the tape and he agrees to watch so he can wait. Then the movie goes for 40 minutes as they go from one place to another until they learn more about the tape and the monster Sadako. Meanwhile their child watches the tape while staying at the grandfather's. They realizes the final resting place of the woman who started it all and try to uncover th
e secrets. As the 7 days are up she doesn't die and they think they "cure" her. But alas that is not what happened and one day later her ex-husband is kill by the tape.
The movie ends as she makes a new tape and calls her father (possible making him watch the tape on behalf of her child so he don't died - we never watch it but it is implied). Fun Spoilers Facts Female Protagonist No Nudity Reasonable Happy Ending (There are sequels)
This was one of my favorite movies in this October Horror Fest marathon... It's a Spanish movie where we follow several people inside a Bar. We've got not much information about it but basically a man is shot dead just outside the street and then another and everyone escapes the streets... The'y got no more information and they start blaming one another about terrorism and stupid things. Then they find a guy in the bathroom dead from some unknown disease and the police/army surrounds the bar. As they turn on one another some are exiled to the basement where they try to escape by a small hole that leads to the sewers.
The movie is funny but horrific (not because of monsters or spooky) but because people in stressful situations do a lot of stupid shit... It's really interesting in that way - like watching rats in a fire within a maze... The police made fake news saying they were isolating that area because of a fire (no fire was existing at the time) and they went through the tunnels turning on each other until only the girl left (our main protagonist) - leaving several questions unanswered like what really happened? Was it a virus? What happened after she left to the streets - after all she was traumatized and walking in the streets of madrid only with her bra... Enfin Good movie, would love a sequel... Fun Spoilers Facts - Female Protagonist - Happy Ending? Unknown... - No nudity - ALTHOUGHT a girl (Blanca Suárez) is seen in her bra for almost 20 to 30 (no complains there)
The Babysitter is another movie I watched in Netflix and I really really enjoy it. We've got this gorgeous babe who is the 15yo babysitter. His friend say that all babysitters screw with their boyfriends when the boys go to sleep - so of course he stay awake - how wrongly.
If you wanted to resume this movie in only a phrase - It's funny, witty, gorish (is this a word) and something to be remembered.
In the movie we follow the boy being all "Home Alone" against a group of cultist teen slashers. The ending is awesome leaving open for a sequel and I really hope for one. Awesome evil characters.
Fun Spoiler Facts
- Male Protagonist but one strong female protagonist
Here Alone is a movie that could have been much more but it isn't and it's it's fault. An epidemic brakes out of proportion and a man and woman with their baby tries to survive. Part of the movie it's her alone and then we get flashbacks on her life with her baby and father. Eventually she helps a man and his stepdaughter and as time progress she connects with them. Unfortunally this is a horror movie and things don't end well. The flashbacks we get to see her husband and child getting the fever and she even has to kill her own child. It's simple and could have been much better - unfortunately it doesn't makes us care that much for any of the characters. There isn't much history behind and we don't know anything about the plague itself except that people go crazy shit doing cannibalistic stuff. Fun Spoiler Facts - Female Protagonist - Nudity for only a couple of seconds - Not Happy Ending
Let Her Out is a cliche of a movie I must say. So basically you've got this pretty girl who gets into an accident and a new personality appears... But basically it isn't really a personality but another thing... The medic thinks that his mother had twin sisters but one of them didn't survive and instead of one being absorbed by her mother (she was a hooker) the genetic materials went inside her and thus the evil twin sister was born... After the accident as I said she lapses time and do things that she is not aware. Interesting the medic says that they can treat that with a procedure but alas the girl says "She must think about it" Killing person she loves, writing stuff on mirror like "I am coming..." does not spook her to make the procedure... The it began to be a bit more supernatural with the sister really "Coming" out of her... Nevertheless it is a cliche movie since I get the feeling that I've watch it before. It's not a contender for best horror movie award buw watchable... Funny Spoiler Facts - Female characters - Some nudity (in the beginning)
Occult is a Japanese movie mostly done in a single camera take. Well basically there is a group of journalists that want to understand more about a killing two years back. As they interview persons to better understand the killer they meet with a homeless guy that says that ever since he's got some sort of magic powers. From this moment on they start to document him. The all movie was really interesting - it seemed I was watching a documentary focally on some homeless jobless guy. The last 20m ou 30m we understand a little better the homeless guy - basically he receives some-kind of visions/orders from some dark ancient being and he must follow it.
Something like a Cthulhu-esque being is controlling it and we get some glimpses of it (badly made I must say). In the end he sacrifices exploding himself in what he thought it was the will of the ancient being. Before doing it he says to the documentary guy that he would give some signal that he went to another place...
The guy with the camera is arrested, after all he knew everything that he was going to do and was released 20 years later (or so) and went to eat at some place (they use to go) and talk with another of his colleagues... As they were eating a camera drops from out of nowhere with a coin that the exploding man had..
It was very interesting movie I will say BUT it has it's fault - being low budget the actors and the special effects were bit weak. But the story was very good...
Fun Spoiler Facts - Male Protagonist
- No Nudity
- Interesting Ending - Not happy ending
This movie is a awesome propaganda movie about having unprotected sex. Well most of all is "Don't fuck dead people even if they are hot milf that made porn movies..." A guy fucked a dead woman and afterwards dies.. but he doesn't stay dead - he is undead - but no the regularly kind undead that wants to eat brains - no no no - the undead that wants to fuck other people... Then the movie really begins with a group of friends who want to go to a beach but stop in a motel. From this moment on is rough sex, comedy sex and even unwanted gay sex... As the movie progresses we've got to watch some nasty sex scenes some gave me stomach ache... expect some nudity scenes Blood, Sperm is all around us... Oh my this movie sucks (sorry for the pun).. It's one of the worst movies of this October Horror Fest... The only part I really love it was the ending, everyone dies and there is a fuck-zombie plague
This movie was a waste of time - Imagine Rambo (the first one) but in England ; imagine Rambo on a quest of hate and revenge killing all that stand in his way - and you've got here a weak piece of crap. Basically a guy returns from the army to her daughter house (and granddaughter) after being away for several years (so much years we do not know but probably many. As he arrives he witness a crime from a drug dealer and kills two of his men. Afterwards the drug dealer (who is a sadistic pig) kills his granddaughter and stabs his daughter in both eyes. Afterwards the man goes berserk and reveals to be Rambo (better I might say) and starts killing left and right. Most enemies he kills are rather stupid because they run with their weapons on the ground - I think he killed more than 20 guys and probably none fired back. The only one that did (a machine gun man) could not hit him - even without any cover and 20 paces apart. In the last sequence after he have killed a lot of enemies with guns (shotgun and pistols) he starts a fist fight with the rest (10 or so) -WHY?? WHERE WERE THEIR GUNS? ARE THEY KNIGHTS WHO FIGHT FAIR? Enfin, a crappy movie
1755 Lisbon Earthquake was the biggest earthquake in the history of Europe in two thousand years. It was felt from Lisbon to Morroco to Ireland and even finland.. It devastated Lisbon but it also killed people in Spain and Morroco. Not only the Earthquake but the Tsunami itself...
Well it was the year 1755 1st of November where catholics had the holy day of All Saint's Day. Basically the eartquake was at 9:40 am so many people where in churches and as the earth tremble many people died in churches and at their homes... The ones that were saved run to the coast because the water receded and people thought it was safe... But unfortunately it was not. A great tidal wave engulf 40m later and many people were lost... Fires broke out throughout the other areas... Peniche, Cascais and so on.. Azores and Madeira were devastated as well..
They've said that 85% of all buildings were destroyed... more than 50,000 people died (there are estimation to 100,000)... Royal Ribeira Palace was destroyed and 70,000 volume royal library was destreoy with hundreds of art paintings... Royal Hospital was consumed by fire and hundreds of patients were burned to death and even our greastest general tomb Nuno Alvares Pereira was lost... There is a place were the ruins was never recovered (some construction so it would fell of course) so people would never forget - to this date it was not recovered - Convent Carmo
With this came despair, the city destroyed, the corpses littered the ground, hunger and diseases... One man rose called Marquis Pombal and he rebuilt Lisbon in the way you know Lisbon (At least the zone of Baixa to Belem and even to the north of Lisbon.
Well This was the worst of them all BUT there were others One in 1321, one in 1531, this one in 1755 and the last one in 1969. There is an interval of 220/230 on each great earthquake and some people say the one in 1969 was not as powerful... So who knows?
So, basically the CD from Moonspell entitled 1755 is a thematic cd singed in portuguese about 1755. It does not feel like the first Wolfheart or the last one Extinct. It's different... I would even go so far to say it's a mix of genres - some musics the innitial ones are more dark since it tells us ab out the day itself - 1755, Desastre (Disaster) or Abanão (The Shake - Probably the more similar term in english), some musics are more focus on the aftermath and feellings the portuguese felt afterwards (Evento (Event) 1 de Novembro (1st November), Ruinas (Ruins) Todos os Santos (All Hallows Eve) and Lanterna dos Afogados (The Lantern of the Drowned Ones - or The Drowners's Lantern).
So the music turns to more brutal to more dark and melancholic tone..
This Earthquake was one of the main factors for Portugal disappearance from the central stage of the Colonies in America, Africa and Asia. It does not disappeared completely but Portugal was(Is) always a country of people who feel first the negative side of things... we are downers if you will... Just so you understand - a normal person in portuguese if it wants to invite another to go out or something like that it doesn't say -" Wanna go out somewhere?" It says "Don't you want to go out to eat somewhere?" do you understand what I am saying? It's hard to explain to a non-portuguese - it's something you feel and you know...
But it's much more than the earthquake - it's about disasters - about Portugal, Look at Todos os Santos. It could be set in the recent fires of Pedrogão Grande or other tragedies...
What I wanted to say is - buy the damn CD. It's awesome thematic CD. To english people, yeah it's sang in Portuguese - Get a translator and study some portuguese :D I've read some reviews by american guys and they were awful because they don't even know where is Portugal so how come would they know about our Terramoto of 1755? But heck - if you like history then this CD is a must
