Anime TV Review: Oshi no Ko (1th season) - October Horror Fest 2023 (31/31)

Oshi no Ko - this an anime that deals with the problems in industry. From fans that go to extreme and end up harming people. One episode, they talk about the production behind, that everything was done for selling merchandise (more valuable than the show itself). The disrespect that exist towards creators and changes to storyline to help x toy or x actor.

Series that have no value, besides the enfacement of actors; the school of celebrities and how they deal with celebrity. Then there is the status/ranking that makes some actors feeling superior.

The fake reality shows...  The idols vs actors career and how the people try to accomodate.

Is this horror ? No. It's not. Yet it's more horrific than you can imagine if you think deep down. It's horrible to think people, thousands go through this.  In Korea & Japan.

Is it a good anime? Yes. Undoubtly. It's one of the best anime of the year, probably one of the contenders. 8.75 rating out of 10. Go Watch it

Book Review: Toxic Love (RedLine) by Kristopher Triana - October Horror Fest 2023 (27/31)

WHAT A BOOK!
I read it one day. IT was awesome. IT was disgusting. It was depraved. It was beautiful. It was ground-breaking. IT was evil. It was eye bleaching (quite literally?) and it was so different from what I normally read.

So what's this tale about you ask. You've got this guy, a middle age man of 40 that was recently divorced and he is trying to work to earn money to help his ex-wife and his two children. He was fired form a previous place (not going to spoil) and now he cleans crime places which I think is not for the faint hearted.

He gets a new partner which (well look at the cover) is a big boob , beautiful 10 out 10 kind of girl. Of course you get a boner right? Ok. Now this girl as a kink, which most people have one. Hers is a bit different. She loves blood and so she wants to fuck someone in a crime scene. You are a verile man and you get this 10 out 10 girl who wants to fvck you. So what do you do? You don't have a wife so why not? The problem? She wants to do it , right there with the blood and gore and brain stuff. Do you get hard? Or is it so depraved and you don't know what to do. Triana really tried to get into this.. he has the bones but his mind is telling other stuff and his dick-mind wants another and so on... Imagine all the weirdest stuff you can imagine, from having sex on crime scenes to having corpses next and even necrophilia... now although this is some hot stuff that get you a weird kind of hard, like looking at your cousin downblouse , it's awesome. I didn't knew how it was going to end and was not disappointed.

It's pretty pretty good BUT it's not for everyone. This kind of novel will never have a screen adaptation - not even on pornhub. BUT it's good. It makes you go to places where you probably don't want to go. It tests your limit on your horniness (is that a word?) and how far you would go to fuck a 25 year old ten out ten.

I am going to buy the remaining books he has, so far I am impressed with the author.

Movie Review: Fright Night Part II - October Horror Fest 2023 (30/31)

 This is the second movie (if the tile was not enough) of a movie I've watch a long time ago. I believe in the 90's and more recently as well. As soon as I started watching I started remembering the characters and story behind. You've got this young teen who have been three years locked/therapy because he believed in vampires. He is released and cured and as he went to tell the girlfriend (wonder how he still has the girl after being away 3 years) and his mentor on vampire-slayer (a presenteur of vampire horror on TV) he finds that the house next door has new tenants. He does everything not believing they are vampires and stuff happens. 

This is horror, don't get me wrong there are some good horror stuff BUT is also comedy. Watch the first one because is that good. Is a good horror flick from the 80's.

Movie Review: Five Nights at Freddys - October Horror Fest 2023 (29/31)

 Ah the game... no? Never play it so I don't know what's that about so any comparasion to the game lore and such well I am not the person to talk. The movie itself is a good horror stuff. To be honest it's a bit weak in terms of horror and in terms of plot but had it was okay done. It is one of those movies you watch on a night and tomorrow is out of your mind. Serve the purpose.

We've got a guy who is haunted by the kidnapping of his brother and ends up being taking care of his sister. To not lose her he gets a job as a security guard in an abandoned place (why?). At night strange noises and strange things start to happen. A policewoman who visits more times the place than him helps him settle in and even helping  on the place. Meanwhile his aunt wants the custody of the child (due to money) and puts some guy in that store to smack it and he be fired and that's where we meet the monsters/robots and such. 

Everything is more or less connected and they try to connect all the dots of the kidnapping (still don't understand) and the toys. The story behind the toys is a bit of a stretch.

Movie RevieW: 15 Cameras (2023) October Horror Fest 2023 (28/31)

15 Cameras was a good novel. We've have a couple who is coming to a new town and they are renting the additional houses to other people. The problem? Those houses were property of a horrible  man who film their tenants and even had a slave.

But the guy was chased and it seems he died. So one day the guy who lives in the house now discovers the hidden cameras and start watching other tenants and the process starts again. The most interesting part was at the same time his wife/girlfriend was seeing a documentary about the guy and thinking their house had cameras.

It was an interesting thing to watch the fall of a man to depravity and curiosity... then as he understood the shite of situation he was he tried to correct... and again.. and again leading to a great finale.

Love the ending.

One sex scene and one shower. No nudiy.

TV Series Review: Stranger Thing (4th season) - October Horror Fest 2023 (26/31)

 Is strange that I am reviewing this one year after the release no? The matter is only now I finish. It's big but that's not the main reason. The reason is that I lost interest. This is one series that I think should have ended back in season 2. Season 3 and 4 (mostly 4) is rather not necessary. Basically this watches as some kind of fantasy series where you've got the first evil guy and you kill it, just to find out that someone behind even more powerful and then another and then another. This is like that. The evil being on the 1 season is just a foot soldier in the 4. 

The first season is so interesting with the 80's theme, the horror stuff and so on. Season two builds that BUT season four is no longer horror per se, it's fantasy, pure fantasy with some hints of horror or DARK Fantasy if you wish. 

I am critiziging but I am not saying is bad and deserves 1 star or something like that. No,  no. It deserves probably 8/9 stars. Strange no?  But yes. Is pointless but is good. It's like Burger King. 

I enjoy seeing the main characters, well some of them, others were quite boring and they were there for the sake of it. Per example, the indian pizza deliver guy was rather pointless, and even the Byers brothers are... what? You've got Jonathan which is an insecure guy, boneless boring and Nancy, what does she sees in him? We know she cares more for Steve than her own boyfriend. Probably fifth season stuff. (the "couple" don't deserve anykind of love in the series at ALL). Then you've got Mike which in this series , again rather pointless entry. What a heck did he do? Nothing. Eleven loves him and he her but... apart from that boring. So what were the highlights?

Well seeing Steve again, he really grew. To be honest is almost the only character who has some ark of development throughout the series. Dustin again shows he is the main protagonist (I am sorry but he is) and Nancy who comes forward as the main character and glue of the group. Eddie was another great entry. What a heck. What a change and growth. Robin is doing her thing (I think this is how you do a character with LGBT. she is not only that you know? and most tv shows focus only on sexuality) and Max & Lucas - I don't even understand. Boring. Joyce, Jim & Murray are other top notchs.

Overall, I think it was too big of a show to what they want to tell us about. Sometimes it felt like a bit of slice of life... (Which can be good but here it drag a bit). The all eleven awakening was too long... But at least we know more stuff than we did. 

Movie Review: Pet Sematary: Bloodlines 2023 - October Horror Fest 2023 (23/31)

Having read the book last month and watch the movie I thought, what a heck not. It even has one of the hottest girls in Hollywood (Lynd btw)

So what's this book about? Well it's kind of a prequel of the first one (or the movie for that matter). You've got this return this kid that returns from Vietnam. It involves Jud as he is trying to live town. Well to be honest this is a bit confusing because is set in 1969 whilst the book is 10 years or so afterwards. But in the book he is 80 and here is a teenish.  It's quite strange.

Is it good? No. I think if you are watching as a pure horror, then go ahead. Is okay. But if you are watching because is a sequel/prequel you will be disappointed. Not even the girl save it.

Book Review: Ancient Images October Horror Fest 2023 (24/31)

This is not the first or second book from Ramsey that I have not enjoyed. This author clearly is not for me. I've tried Scared Stiff which was not that good but since it mix genres that I usually don't enjoy I Thought that was it. Then I try The Doll Who Ate his Mother which I felt bland and boring with the first 130 pages of nothing. , Also To Wake the Dead. Both I didn't even finished. This one went the same way. Supposedly it was a good story. A woman is trying to find a movie her friend was also searching and dying/being killed due to it. So the vast majority of 150 pages or more is just going around to x and y person involved on that movie and getting something... It has some eeriness but the vast majority is just BORING! No Horror. Nada. I ended up phrases because I was so bored and wanted to get over after investing 200 pages. I am utterly disappointed. 2/10

I have more of his books AND it's strange that all books I have only one has a more decent rating on goodreads so probably it's not a situation it's not me it's you situation.
I got the influence, The namelesss, count of eleven, midnight sun, hungry moon and finally two with more decent rating cold print (lovecraftian stuff) and far away and never (sword and sorcery).

Oh my... I am truly aghast with this experience. I went without reading anything for 2 days!

Book Review: Whispers in the Dark October Horror Fest 2023 (25/31)

I've tried countless times to read gothic horror... the vast majority is rather boring and not that scary in the end. That's why I've stop trying for a while. But since I've read the first novel by Jonathan Aycliffe I came to realize that he writes gothic stuff. Is not pure horror, or gore. The books are usually not that big and slowly build tension until the culmination.

Here we've got a old woman telling the tale of her life in the turn of the century and here is where Ayclfife is a master. He really knows how Britain was in the turn of the century, how people behaved and such. So, stuff happens and she loses her father and afterwards her mother and then she is separated from her brother. For years she becomes quite literally a slave/peasant resigned to her life. Then she meets her family (cousins and such) and things start to be better for her, or are they?

As the chapters enfold you get to know more about those strange stuff that is happening and get some information here and there. The ending of our main tale was a bit weak (fast) as I hoped for more. The ending of the novel was good.

I can see Jonathan did this, and thought what a movie rights?

Either way, 8 out 10. My criticism was the fast ending (compare with the slow built).

This is a writer I've read almost everything he wrote (not counting his pseudonymn which he writes historic thrillers). I am missing Naomi's Room & Silence of Ghosts. This one, A Garden Lost in Time, don't know why but it's hard to get.

Movie Review: Elevator Game 2023 - October Horror Fest 2023 (23/31)

This movie was okay. Nothing really to praise or criticize. We've got here a bunch of teenagers who do videos for profiting using dealing with horror stuff. This next video deals with going in a skyscraper, going through a bunch of floors and something will be awaken.  As they are doing, something interrupts and they think it's just a flop but isn't it? Death, blood and mayhem. IT's a cool story, nothing really sketchy, nothing too overboard. Probably they filmed everything in the same place and that's it.

The ending was good but expected. Again, good night movie to watch before bed since it's not truly horrific that will make you be insomniac.

Movie Review: Fog City 2023 - October Horror Fest 2023 (22/31)

 This movie was good to watch. It was fast and interesting. We've got this town where a bunch of teens leave and are making a party since each are going their own way. One of them, is the daughter of a business owner who has a factory that nobody knows much about it. It's always topic for being a bit shady. As they arrive at the home, they start hearing sirens and watching some fog coming their way. They assume something has happened to the factory and try to leave to no avail. Alas they refuge in the house and this is how it starts to get weird. Each starts feeling different stuff (psychological) and all hell break lose. The ending is amazing with the realization everything was...  ( not going to say)

There are two sex scenes, one of them has some very beautiful boobs. The main actress although is not naked, a shame I know but at least by the end she is showing stuff that really make me wanna look more...

The acting is the down point of the movie. Sometimes the dialogue felt contrived, confused and amateurish. It seems the guy behind only want to show boobs and mayhem. Everything else was second plan. BUT I enjoy.

Book Review: The Ruins by Scott Smith October Horror Fest 2023 (21/31)

My rating: 7 of 10 stars

First of all I would say I am rating this book 7.5 stars out of ten. The reason? Well because I understand the criticisms and it's too big.

Let's start this review with something new... Have you watch the movie? Yes? Don't bother reading the novel - although the ending is different. Bear that in mind.

First of all, the book does something that I truly hate. It's 520 pages plus without any chapters. Fucking atrocious. I truly hate books without chapters. But to be fair, it's a thriller so past pace is something expected and it shows here.

So why should I recommend or not the book/movie? Well, because the movie and book follows the same stuff in the beginning. It's a bunch of friends who met some people on Mexico and then try to help one of them discover his brother. This is the first 80/90 pages. Then we've got 300/350 pages of boring little characterization and over and over the same thing. It's like a new day arises, more drama, ends , a new day arises over and over. So it's boring. In the movie there is the same thing. Here , it's more detailed, there are some stuff only on the book that doesn't exist in the movies. To be honest is not that important.

I hoped when reading the book that we get more information on the things that made me read the novel but I got nothing.

What are these vines?

Why they exist in the mayans ruins?

Why the mayans didn't destroy the vines?

Why the vines didn't "leave"?

All of these are left unanswered.

Then we've got the ending.. (a bit of spoilers)... In the movie Jeff does stuff that helps Amy escape. In the book they all died and the books end with the two Greek plus two Brazilians arriving at the same place and being surrounded by the Mayans. Why did they need the movie to have a "happier" tone?

I enjoy the ending on the book better. Since the page 100 you know, everyone is going to die. You expect that. You feel that. It's hopelessness. And the only question is how. THat's why the author gives so much information on how to store water, the all cannibalism stuff etc. On the movie it's quite fast and you get far less scare for our characters.

In the end, if you watch the movie, be happy and move along. If you didn't watch anything and have 6/8 hours then the book is probably better.

Btw, just watch something the director said about the ending- what a bunch of crap

"Our final decision was informed by what audiences found the most satisfying after watching a really punishing film. I love the ending of the book, but if the movie had ended the same way, the audience would have wanted to kill themselves."

Movie Review: Haunting of the Queen Mary 2023 - October Horror Fest 2023 (20/31)

I never saw a movie so devoid of interest , although with high quality recording, but boring as hell... until the end which was very unexpected. So from what I've understood it's going to be a trilogy of movies dedicated with this ancient ship. Quite strange to give a bad "reputation" to a piece of history but okay. So it seems people sacrifice people on foundation sacrifice. Putting someone within the walls make a boat unsinkable. Well, I wonder that's why so many people die in construction... maybe they are fueling that ancient belief? Who knows..

Another odd choice was to include a child ( that suffers from dwarvish) to reprise a paper of a 8 years old when he is 14. (okay it doesn't look it but it was quite strange).  It's a very confusing movie to be honest... jumping from past to present as it is all connected.

Movie Review: My Soul to Take - October Horror Fest 2023 (18/31)

 This is a slasher movie with teens... well everyone of them are like that.

Basically it's a tale about a killer who terrorized a town and after several years is coming back and killing. But not everything is at it seems. The director throws to all directions, maybe it's the son of the killer, maybe it's the sister, maybe it's supernatural, maybe the main character is just crazy (a bit). You never really know who is the killer until the end and the explanation was nothing really groundbreaking. Overall, it's another slasher movie like you've seen it before.

What was good was the characterization and voices of the main characters. That part was good. The police is just idiotic and can't do anything... it's dumb.

But it's a OK movie. Watchable. Don't expect something groundbreaking

Movie Review: Malum 2023 - October Horror Fest 2023 (19/31)

This movie is called Last Shift but if it was gore instead of horror. This movie was a bit odd but good. In this movie we follow a cop being complemented on doing something good and saving some people. Then for no reason he kills two officers and shoots himself.

Enter his daughter and she has to deal with all of this nightmares. The first think I noticed and remember was watching a similar movie a couple of years ago and Alas... I found it. Last Shift also made by the same director. What's up with all the last day police station full of strange stuff? From what I read it's a remake or something of that kind.

The good thing is that you never know what's real or not. Only that the other police officers don't trust her due to her father actions. 

So I Can't let this escape.. Last Shift is more horror whilst this one is more gore. Blood blood blood... There is no doubt that the first one was better. This one was boring and mindless compared with the other one.. why not do something new? Why change what was good.

So If I was you, watch the first one. Forget about this. Or watch both and decide. Again, in terms of acting the first is better and horror. Here is more gore. if that's your thing go for it

Movie Review: Halloween Pussy Trap Kill Kill - October Horror Fest 2023 (17/31)

 This is going to be a short review because the movie is idiotic.

You've start with some war in some arab country where a couple of troopers are killed and disfigured and so on. Then we jump to our day with a group of punk rock band doing stuff. They are kidnapped and taken to a place where they have to do games like Saw but stupid.

In the end, it's just a story of how people who are supposedly friends work under dire pressure and that same time is just a story about how the soldiers who fight in those goddman wars are treated back home and how they feel the rest of country should feel their sacrifice. It's just a test... I have to die there and you are here doing stupid stuff, not appreciating our sacrifice..

I know you want to know is there pussy and such? Well, no. There is like one scene where a girl shows her boobs for 10 seconds and that's it. Nothing further.  3/10

Movie Review: Dreamscape 1984 - October Horror Fest 2023 (16/31)

 This movie was good. Basically it was set back in 84 and deals with some experiments on dreams. Some people with psychic capability can enter other people minds to help, but of course there is always people trying to get advantage of it. So the movie is part thriller, there are several chases and gunfights and some horror. It's not totally horror but it's there, mainly on the nightmare parts. It's a good fast pace movie.

There is a scene of one of this guys who can dream travel and he enters the dream of a woman who is a bit of aroused there. So they end up doing it. When she awakes, she feels violated (because she knew what he did) and ask a interesting question... well we didn't really fuck did we? It's only in the dream... (But he was there in the dream so.. did he or not?) it's also cringe.. talk about boundaries man.

Finally a good Splatterpunk Western novel which doesn't try to be Woke. Interesting that is one of the best ratings in the god damned series... Please learn. People don't want to be preach upon. They want a good tale.

This was the second to last novel published by Death's Head Press (I believe or something like that) because this is number 12. Then we've got the number 13 (and last one that was numbered). There was an hiatus of 6/9 months and they start publishing again a more expensive line of novels, but the numbers were gone and they had another company behind it (still death's head press) called death's sky published. I bought several but paying 16€ for a 100 page novel is ridiculous. But alas, what about this book...

What's this all about you may ask.. Well a group of four families (one of them a family of Indian trackers) are moving from one place to another so they can start anew. Supposedly it was something safe but due to some storms and misguiding they end up stranded on the snow.

Then the problems start, the horses run amok, families are being thrown one to another and finally one of our guys and the tracker go alone to get some help and this is basically the first 50 pages. The rest? Well it's mayhem, cannibalism, horror and a hit of a chase. Right from the start, the first page it starts with "THEY HATE THE BABY". Since there is only one baby in the book, you know where this is going... We've got around 15 characters, most of them you can easily identify, others have no distinct voice. But some, oh my.. The main character, the one narrating a young 12 year old boy is surely one of the best in this line of novels and was a joy to read.

I enjoy what he did with the Indian couple, most other writers would be scared to portrait the Indians on a not so good way and that's fine you know why? Black people, Indians and all other can be good or bad people. It doesn't make you a racist for saying that. Everyone sucks big time, no matter the colour of our skin.

In the end I Was surprised, gladly surprised and probably one of my favourites... 8.5

Movie Review: Influencer - October Horror Fest 2023 (14/31)

Influencer is a strange movie that was filmed to have a small number of cast. The story is what you've heard elsewhere about stolen identities. Basically we've got this girl who steals the identify of a influencer and then using deep fakes start living her life trying to convince everyone that all is good and so on. It's quite strange movie the way it was done. BUT it raises questions about the future of AI and deep fakes and how all influencers are fake people always earning money by providing "content" to the rest of humanity BUT  at same time making them poor, sadder versions of themselves since they will always dream of having, being like that but never really going anywhere. That's the problem and the main reason the rise of OnlyFans and other groups. It's sad. The movie is not that interesting, the ending a bit idiotic.

Movie Review: Ouija Witch - October Horror Fest 2023 (13/31)

This is a movie that deals with an evil being unleash by an Ouija Board that comes to kill people. In the beginning it seems it's quite random, the monster will kill anyone who summons it (prologue). 

The novel itself is not set on the same timeline of the first and we've got a monster that doesn't kill randomly but people who have done awful things to the people who summon it - in this case a young girl who is returning home and some dudes are mistreating her. Oh we then learn that the girl that survive the first encounter is the mother of the main protagonist. A crazy woman who no-ones believes.

The movie is from 2023, therefore all male characters are highly toxic, womans perfect. It's a shame the main protagonist wasn't naked (I am kidding with this lol). But it's interesting that the all movie is against man in general but the main protagonist , the female girl is always on revealing clothes and even the way is filmed always focus much on that - I mean like hint, maybe you gonna see the boobs. But you won't. Sorry.

Oh well. In the end could have been better, my main problem well it's the woke stuff that makes no sense at all.
