Reviews: Aesop Fables & Fisica do Impossivel & Green Phoenix

I read this two books in April and May. Both books are not the usual I read but sometimes I must get way from the Science Fiction and Fantasy and sometimes I need to read in Portuguese so I thought of reading a Michio Kaku's book. It was a good book with strange ideas and some of them I took for granted on my books. It was good book and I would like to read the second book by him... Maybe in the near future. Now Aesop Tales was a different book... It was a collection of stories, most of them we all know in our own countries... I would advice you to read in wikipedia. I think most of them are there.

The last book in my Small Reviews post is Green Phoenix. A book by Thomas Burnett Swann with barely 139 pages. It was a boring book which I didn't enjoy the least. It was probably my unfavoured book of this year. It has a good premise... It has dryads and some charcters from ancient greek texts and mythologies. Unfortunaly I couldn't grasp the novel and the characters were not that good...

Review: Outliers - Malcom Maxwell

This book was an interesting reading and not my usual one. I read because someone told me it was good and it was. In the book we get to know some things we never figure it out like why the canadian ice hockey team players are almost all of them born from january to april? Why the chinese, japanese and other rice cultures have lesser problems in education than ours? Why the children of chinese learn about numbers and letters sooner than ours? Why the japanese are more pacient than western civilizations? Why the planes in South Korea had so many crashes (the biggest in all world) and after adopting the english language they have been free of crashes for more than 6 years? Why the chinese have so much people against our own?

This is some questions that Maxwell dwelt upon and some are quite interesting... I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn why the differencs between civizilations and why some people have so many success (in here he gave the example of Bill Gates) and others do not?

I rate it 7 out of 10.

Well this was an odd book for me to read. I usually don't read this kind of book but this was a gift and I read it. This is a book of a "trekking" man. He gets his backpack and go around the world travelling. This is a book that with many of his tales. Previously published in a journal called Express they combined and published in a single book. Well within this book we can get some of his stories; some are a history of the place he is, others are about people who live there, others are something that remind him. Like in one story he remembered reading a tale of a portuguese writer and it influenced to become a trekking.

This book is not a travel guide telling us what should we visit. It's like a journal of small stories... It was a good read and my favourite parts were the stories telling of the history of some of those places. I enjoy history so everything new is good.

In the end I was pleased and some part of me wanted to read a little more of him but I bet that I will not buy. Maybe the person who offered me this book will offer me another.
