This is the tenth book I've read from Druga and this is probably my least favourite alongside with Torn. It still is a good tracking with only 2 books with 2 stars.
This one follows a event, like most of her books, that kill the vast majority of population. Is it explained? No.
People suffocate and died. But some did not. Some lived and thus we find out following 4 people (two groups of two). I enjoyed their interactions mostly Morgan and Ross as they are quite different personalities and clash.
After 99% of population died, it started to rain endlessly. After some deus-ex-machina stuff they hear some feedback that this is worldwide and they must escape to high ground.
Then our survivors meet other people who basically just woke up and had no expression. Just being on the rain and so on. Like zombies but without the carnage. They are just there....
So our adventurers or survivors just go to a place told in a vision of one child OR following the communication. They meet other two survivors and that's it. The book is disjointed , nobody really talk about issues that arose. Per example the priest they met had a bookcase on top of him, it takes around 30 pages so he finally says what happened. Nobody deemed worthy of asking. Ross & Morgan leave one another after one of them betrayed the other and smack on the head. Later one meet the remaining duo and after the second one appear they are hostile against the other - noone ask, why are you like this with that other person? It's absurd. Then it just ended. This book could have been 400 pages and better. Some connections to stephen king the stand btw.
OH well, you can't win them all
